Chagrin

I feel like an alien in my own world
Am I getting warmer or am I just cold
I don’t know if I’m on the top or the bottom Above or below, down or under
A plus-one at a party before slumber
Perhaps I’m floating on a cloud
Whilst trying to find the right sound I’m not holding onto anything
Besides my dignity and a fresh-pressed suit And last wishes deploying like parachutes
My content turned to chagrin
The world spins round again
Was this the modern man
Free falling as water drip drip drips Looking upon the waning eclipse
